Shark bait oh haa haa

I had such a hard time sleeping this weekend! Which is weird for me because I am usually SO tired that only seconds after my head hits the pillow I am fast asleep. Each night I would toss and turn till early early. Well sunday night when I was finally able to sleep I had a dream. This is also weird because I don't usually remember my dreams. Well in this dream I was being chased by a shark and there was some guy with me and he was getting chased to and there was salt in the water that made us taste better so thats why the shark was attacking? We were fishing in an old wood boat in the ocean? It was weird. So this morning I look up sharks in the dream dictionary, because thats just what weird people like me do. This is what it said...

SHARK
To see a shark in your dream, indicates feelings of anger, hostility, and fierceness. You may be an emotional threat to yourself or to others.? You may be going through a difficult, painful, or unpleasant emotional period. Alternatively, it represents a person whom you see as greedy and unscrupulous. This person goes after what what he or she wants with no regards to the well-being and sensitivity of others. The shark may also be an aspect of your own personality which exhibit these qualities.

So then I thought, CRAP! ANGER? HOSTILITY? hmmm.... Who do I secretly have these feelings for? Maybe my subconcious is trying to tell me something.

Then, I remembered my last few thoughts before I fell asleep, and they definatly weren't nice ones.Painful, emotional and unpleasant sure do ring a bell. HAHA. So there you have it. You can control your dreams.

Its becoming MORE real!!!!

So Mom and Sarah worked on our schedule while we are in the Holy Land! Here is what they came up with!! I see Red Sea and Camel rides so I am stocked! Mt Sinai is a surprise!! I am really excited about that.

Friday 11th....church ( The branch is REALLY small so they have asked our family to be the entire program!! So lucky me, I get to speak.)
Saturday 12 Maadi....Road 9, jewely store to order custom things, visit schools of Phyllis and Sarah
Sunday 13 Take the train to Alexandria. spend the day there, rent a taxi to show us the town.
Monday 14 Cairo sights....(Giza...which is the town the pyramids are in) ride the camels, see the Egyptian sights in the area of Cairo
Tuesday 15 Mt. Sinai. Hike, AKA DOMINATE, the mountain. Spend the night in a resort nearby.
Wednesday 16 Meet up with Phyllis and Adel at the resort. spend wed, thur,& friday at the Red sea.
Saturday 19 back to Maadi....
Sunday 20th....go out to the village where Adel grew up.
Monday pack up, finish any last minute shopping or sightseeing, leave for airport late that night.

Maadi, from what I understand, is where Phyllis and Adel live which is around Cairo. Either a bordering city or a part of the city.

You may be wondering why we are going to Church on Friday?? Well Friday is the Muslim day of worship so that is when all must do their services. Everyone is working and in school on Sunday.

I hope that there will be GREAT sea food served in Alexandria. Alexandria is the 2nd largest city in Egypt and there is a lighthouse there that I would like to see. I have never seen one with my own eyes.

A mani/pedi combo is $3 in Egypt!! I am hoping to get one EVERYDAY. okay so maybe every OTHER day.... That is complete heaven!!

Just like Christmas

Last night, as I was putting my new room together, I found a disposable camera. I had NO CLUE when or where it was from so I was really excited to get it developed. It was fun to have pictures printed off. I don't do that much any more but it was so fun this time that I think I will start doing that more.

Zach on his birthday! This had to be at least a year ago!!
I love these boys!! We had a BBQ out at Usery Park one night while Dallin was in town.

@ BBQ
BBQ. There is nothing better than an AZ sunset, with THE Zach in front.

I dominated the grill!! :)

Old school cruisin in Bianca.

Last summer the girls floated the river.

Just my 24 year old take on it.

Does "falling in love" really exist?

Or is it just a matter of "falling in habit"

Not that I am against falling in love. I think it sounds great. I just don't know if I buy it yet. I see it as we meet someone. We have a connection, and then we become dependent on them through habit. When we get sick of the habit we can't stand the person and thats when we "fall out of love"

No pictures.. Use your imagination.

Things on my mind.....

AHHH... Egypt is coming so fast. What if I am not prepared and I forget something important, like my passport. Or underwear. What if they don't let me on the plane. What if I get lost over there. what if what if what if.

I want to be able to cook better, and more often... Sometimes I think in my mind that when I am married I am going to be the BEST cook. Then I think, hmmmm... you better be NOW what you plan to be THEN. Otherwise you will never be that. Time to start perparing. I am sure I can find willing servents to eat up the things I will cook.

As roommate Julie said... There is nothing like a good poop in the morning. It really starts your day off right and you feel GREAT!! As roommate Kari Ann would say... people who poop are happy. SO GET YOUR POOP ON EVERYONE. Too much enthusiasm on the pooping??? Maybe....

I am on day 9 with no sugar. After 1 week I decided to keep going with it. Couldn't hurt right? So my question would be... Say on day 15 I decide to have a cookie. Do I have to start ALL over? Or can I allow for life to happen? After all I still went with plenty of days with no sugar. Mern's jury is still out on this discussion....

I want to plan a trip to Seattle next year. I have always wanted to go and think I should just do it. No day but today right?

I need to get enrolled in the Anatomy class at work. I already have the book and have been contacting my enrollment chick. We always play phone tag. It makes me aware of my position here at the school and how if a student calls me I need to be prompt about answering their call or calling them back.

When is the next THUNDERSTORM???? I want one....

What a fun weekend! It was nonstop action. We went out to the movies Saturday night with Brynn and Trisha and watched Julie and Julia. It was the cutest movie! I really enjoyed it and I think lindsey did too. We even talked our friend Jeremy into going. He is a succor for chick flicks though. Quite the contradiction because he has about 5 piercings on his face. He sure fooled us. After the movie we meet up with roommate Julie and got some food. We ate outside of Rigabertos and it was fun. They turned on some christmas lights for us which we thought was funny. It was 1 am we were eating crap mexican food in a caged room with christmas lights. Thats arizona for you. After we ate we decided to take some funny photos and went around Mesa looking for different spots. Here is a little bit of what we did.....

No, Lindsey hasn't been smoking ANYTHING....
Thats better!!
=)

The lion, the witch, and the wardrobe.

Who knows what is going on here!

I love this pic for some reason~! If I could give it a title it would be FREE.
(Notice Julie posing in the background when its not even a picture of her. haha)
Isn't my sister a doll!!

We couldn't fit, but we tried.

Check that out!! First take! Olympics, here we come!!

This is what happens at 3 am

Our rendition of see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

Aw! Creepy Mern.

AWKWARD FAMILY PHOTOS. We couldn't resist!!

We had a great time at Rigabertos. Its the best 2 am food!!
another awkward family photo.... this one was NOT planned.

Look, No Hands. My buritto can stand all on its own now. So grown up!!

Birthday Wishes!

Happy Birthday to BRYNN! She turned the big 22 Yesterday!! I hope you had a great day Brynn!

Just thinking.

"Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it."

~Ronald Reagan
So hear is my question, I want to live a life like my grandparents did. Does this mean I shouldn't learn about their life to ensure that I repeat it? After all, Its history. Just a thought.
This week has FLOWN by. It has been a nice week though and what a better way to end it than with a RAINSTORM. It was fantastic. Lindsey and I went out to Tyson & Kim's house last night to play games with them and the Baker Bunch. It was fun to see Spencer and Greta's little Haven. She is so precious, and Phoenix gets more adorable everyday. She is such a quite and content baby. I am sure she has her moments though.
I was really surprised to see Kim's Belly! We saw her last weekend and I didn't notice a thing. Then last night it was there!! She is so cute!
I kept asking Annie about the baby. She insists that its a girl. She was sitting on my lap and kept asking me to tell her stories about when she was a little baby in her mommies tummy. Later on in the night we were watching Tarzan and she decided to become Jane, and labeled Jensen as Tarzan and I got to be Terk. It was fun. Lindsey pointed out that Jensen has become a toddler over night! He is a lot more playful now.
I am getting VERY excited for Egypt. It still doesn't seem real that we are going. I don't think it will hit in till the plane takes off from New York. I can't wait to take a MILLION pictures. I am excited to touch and feel all the fabric and the trinkets. To taste all the new spices. To feel the hot Egyptian sun! To splash in the red sea, and try to part it.
Have a great weekend all of you! Loves, from Mern.

I have finally found the one.

I have a new celebrity boyfriend. I was sad to break up with my last celebrity boyfriend but I feel it was time. He was just getting too old. So like a Chump I ditched him. But new celebrity boyfriend is just amazing. I have seen him hundreds of times but he has never struck my fancy, until watching him last night in The Fifth Element. Oh my heck, Bruce Willis is PHENOMENAL. I am in love. Its that kind of love that catches your breath because someone has that special Charisma about them. I think it is caught in this picture...

Its just the way he isn't smiling, yet there is TOTALLY a smile there.

Sigh.

I am digging the hat

I am a suckor for the shaved head and dicey business.
So there you have it. Know you know. ALERT THE MEDIA. Wedding annoucements to follow.

Happy Tuesday

Day 1 with no sugar went splendid! It was harder than I thought. I had gotten into the habit of having a Mt Dew with dinner. I don't know why I buy soda because I don't LUV it but when I have it I drink it. * Note to self, Don't buy soda. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY...

Day 2 with no sugar is going good. yippee. I rock this.

Today is going to be quite busy. I don't know why I agree to so many things when all I want to do is do my own thing at get to sleep at a decent hour!! Any one else out there with this problem? I bet so. Over half of the Haws clan should be raising their hands right now! I figured out why this is as I have been ready Grandma Haws' history book this week. Grandma and Grandpa were a well oiled machine that did WAY more than anyone could have asked for them. Now I just wish I could direct all my energy into positive things like they did! My tasks are more like go to the gym, make it to Chris' birthday party, have Jakeb and Jeremy over to watch a movie. It should be a fun night I guess but for the record, I would rather be doing other things.

NO sugar????

Okay. I am going to go 1 week without sugar. A friend of mine casually said that I should try it. I thought to myself

Self, this will be so easy. You don't even eat sugar that often.

So I will give it a try. Its 10:18 in my day. time for a snack while I wait for my QC before I can go to lunch. I open my snack drawer and what do I find? None other than my favorite snack... ZOOM out a bit and this is what you get.

I LUV LUV LUV Juicy twist licorice. There is nothing better than going to a drive in movie, alone, with this bad boy as your date. Rats! I bought it on Friday and now I cannot partake. What do I do? Pass it over to the "friend" that suggested I not eat sugar. Is this a consiracy? Did he know I had that in my drawer and that I would have to hand it over? maybe.

After this I start thinking about my cupboards at home and what might be in there that I don't remember. Then it hits me. A COSTCO size box of airheads. A bag of saltwater taffy from Idaho. Mt Dew. Now, the fact that all these are in there is proof that I don't eat a lot of candy, I am a collector I guess. However they are in my cupboard and I partake at least a few times a week. So I will be giving it up a bit. I bet now that I tell myself I don't want this sugar those Taffy's are going to grow huge bulky arms and legs and walk up the stairs to my bedroom, like little monsters, and try to beat there way into my mouth. Thats how it always happens right? Someone tells you not to do something so you can't rest peacefully again until you do it. We shall see what happens.

Would anyone like to join me?

DBacks Vs La Dodgers

This weekend some of the family got together to go to the game. I don't LOVE games but I go with the flow. Its fun to just get out and do things. While I was at the game I ran into one of my old co-works, Vali, so that was fun to see her. We worked together at the cabinet place.

The Dodgers pitcher got DRILLED in the face with the ball. If I wasn't laughing so hard I would have felt sorry for him. Please don't feel bad, he is out of the hospital and OKAY.

Here are the family members that went. Mom, Dad, Sara, Buddy, Lindsey.
Below: Dallin and myself.

I think this was a game to see who could get the biggest smile. Lets take votes on who won, shall we? lol.
Okay so in a previous posts, you can read it HERE, #48 I talk about an issue I have with people taking pictures of themselves. Everything about this annoyes me. For a few different reasons.
1. Why do I want a picture of you on my camera? Is this an invitation for me to kiss you?
2. Why do I want MULTIPLE pictures of you like this on my camera? We all know you are not a first time offender.
3. Why don't you ask someone to take a picture of you?
So after the game you want to know what I found on my camera?
THIS

THIS

& THIS
SO THIS IS WHAT I WANTED TO DO TO THEM!!!
I WILL PUMP YOU FULL OF LEAD.

Come on peeps.... No more self pictures!!! If you are taking a picture of yourself for a specific reason, say to send to a friend, take it, BUT DELETE IT WHEN YOU ARE DONE.

Thank ya sir.

Dear Little, Sweet, Baby Jesus.

Even though I HATE, no make that LOATH, waking up before 5 am to get to work by 6 it MIGHT be worth it to see the sunrise that I get to see every morning. I am surprised that I don't wreck on my way each day. I should be a contortionist the way I am cranking my neck behind me to check out the view. Arizona makes a sunrise like none else. THANK YOU.

Here is your sign....

I was curious to know a little about myself today and thought the best place to look, other than way deep down inside, is my sign. I thought what I learned was pretty interesting and pretty dead on... Any other Gemini's out there? ~HOLLA~
I thought it was really interesting when it talks about the "twins" and never knowing who is going to show up! That makes so much sense! I just thought it was mood swings. I find that my energetic self shows up more at night while during the day I am more reflective and chill.
GeminiMay 21 - June 21

Gemini is the third Sign of the Zodiac, and those born under this Sign will be quick to tell you all about it. That's because they love to talk! It's not just idle chatter with these folks, either. The driving force behind a Gemini's conversation is their mind. The Gemini-born are intellectually inclined, forever probing people and places in search of information. The more information a Gemini collects, the better. Sharing that information later on with those they love is also a lot of fun, for Geminis are supremely interested in developing their relationships. Dalliances with these folks are always enjoyable, since Geminis are bright, quick-witted and the proverbial life of the party. Even though their intellectual minds can rationalize forever and a day, Geminis also have a surplus of imagination waiting to be tapped. Can a Gemini be boring? Never! (Thats right, she thinks smugly to herself. YOU BETTA RECOGNIZE.)
Since Geminis are a mix of the yin and the yang, they are represented perfectly by the Twins. The Gemini-born can easily see both sides of an issue, a wonderfully practical quality. Less practical is the fact that you're not sure which Twin will show up half the time. Geminis may not know who's showing up either, which can prompt others to consider them fickle and restless.
They can be wishy-washy, too, changing their mood on a simple whim. It's this characteristic which readily suggests the Mutable Quality assigned to this Sign. Mutable folks are flexible and go with the flow. Further, the Twins are adaptable and dexterous and can tackle many things at once. It's a good thing, too, when you consider their myriad interests. The downside of such a curious mind, however, can be a lack of follow-through. How much can any one person do, anyway?
So thats me in a nut shell. So from all of your outside opinions, would you say this describes me?? I would love to hear your opinion.

Today is the DAY!

Preston went into the MTC today. I am so proud of him! He has always been an example to me! He was the cutest little kid and always so sensitive and kind. He still is! He has so many friends and people that respect him. I know he is going to be a great missionary and love people into the gospel. I can't wait to see his growth in his letters, and send him packages, and hear his voice at Christmas. Luckily that isn't too far away!!
I love you brother!!

How I roll.

This is how I relax when I go to Mom and Dad's house.

I love hanging out in the gold room with the fan on and a nice breeze. Too bad I can't just live there.
